KNotify crashes with libvlc5 from packman

I upgraded my Lenovo X220 laptop from 13.1 to 13.2. Now on every login and right before logout KNotify crashes. Also all applications which try to play sound immediately crashes. If I reinstall libvlc5 including all dependencies from opensuse (instead packman) everything works, but I can not play any videos. As soon as I reinstall libvlc5 (including dependencies) Knotify and all the other apps again crash.

Here’s the dump:

Application: KNotify (knotify4), signal: Segmentation fault

Maybe connected, maybe not - after the upgrade I had also sound issues with the original suse libvlc5. For details see here: https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/512433-No-sound-after-upgrade-from-13-1-to-13-2

Any ideas what this could cause? I just upgrade also my desktop from 13.1 to 13.2 and no problems there: sounds fine, video playback fine.

post your repo list

zypper lr -d

how did you upgrade from a disk or live with zypper dup, if you did it with a disk you probably have old 13.1 packman packages

Found a bug entry for this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347917

I don’t understand why this is set to resolved. There is still no phonon-backend-vlc from packman and the one from suse relies on libvlccore7, which leads to the crash. At the moment I see only the solution to use gstreamer as backend. I’m trying this now and report back.

P.S: Updated via zypper dup, all packman packages are up-to-date.

and why not post your repo list?
a possibility is that you used packman for 13.1, that’s what the bug report said it was caused by a library mismatch, in principle when doing a zypper dup you should disable all but the oss non-oss and update repo’s remove all 3rd party drivers, then after an update add packman and nvidia/ati repos and do a dup with packman, I’m thinking you have some 13.1 packages leftover.
