Knode Authentication failure

openSUSE 11.0 (2.6.25.18-0.2-default) KDE4.1.3 release 68.1, knode 0.99.01

after a knode update earlier this week I started getting this message on all attempts to access a news group on my ISPs server. I have used this news server for three years. I’ve checked my account and all is configured correctly. I talked to the ISP and they claim no changes have been made.

I actually have accounts going to three other news groups on different servers and none get errors, NONE use Authentication. Here’s: the error message:

Internal Error
Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org
Unexpected server response to GROUP command:
502 Authentication Failed

Before reporting as bug, has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for any response in advance.

As far as I have been able to find out this is a bug in Knode that is being looked at, it does not seem to send (?) the username and pass to the server ( have not looked into it too much yet though ) I just use thunderbird for the accounts that need auth`ing.

Thanks that’s what I suspected. I only have one news group out of four that uses Authentication. Others work fine.

please post anything you find and I will do the same.

The corresponding bug in bugzilla.novell.com has been closed as “resolved” (WTF?!) and the one in kde.org seems to have died a peaceful death.
