KNetworkMangaer icon on the desktop

I have a emachines e510 series, modelnumber is KAL 10.

I am using openSUSE 11.1

My problem is that the KNetworkManager icon shows up on the desktop in a little window, instead of down by the sound icon near the clock. There are I am not sure what the problem is, because sometimes when I reboot it, the icon is where it belongs.

I have noticed a few times that my sound driver or something to do with the sound fails, and is set to default. As far as I can tell, the sound still works.

Any ideas what my problem could be?

I have seen a similar issue with KDE3 and the HP printer systray icon.
Are you on KDE4 or 3? When you exclude the Networkmanager icon from the session and start it manually after login, does it go to the systray all the time?

Uwe

I will try that next time, when I fired my lap top up now, there was no sound faults, and the icon is where it is suposed to be. So I guess there is a fault with my sound settings, or something that happens every once in a while.

As for kde version, I guess I have 4 if that is the default when you install.

Also, the first time a sound is about to play, there is a loud white noise, before the sound comes normally. Also the login sound never plays.
