KNetworkManager without entering password

Hi guys,

I have upgraded my Opensuse 11.0 to 11.2 and i have noticed the new KNetworkManager connects only after i enter the root password. How can i change the permissions so that KNetworkManager starts Automatically on startup without prompting for a password?:\

Thanks in Advance

Tschank

Are you sure it’s asking you to run the program as root, or is it kwallet asking you to open up a wallet? knetworkmanager stores all connection-specific information in a secure wallet, and whenever it wants to connect to a network it has to open the wallet to access the information. When this happens, it asks you for the password for the wallet (which I usually just set to my root password).

If it is kwallet asking you, you can disable it using the kwallet subsystem, though how one goes about this I’m not sure as I don’t use NetworkManager (and related) at all.

If it really is asking you to run knetworkmanager as root, then there is something amiss, as it should not be run as root (major security risk).

Thankx buddy it was kwalletmanager playing root. I disabled it and now its working.

Glad to hear you got it working the way you want!

If you don’t mind my asking, what did you do to disable kwallet? Might be useful for others that don’t want to deal with it.

Disabling Kwallet is as follows
Kickoff (start) - system settings
click on the advanced tab select kwallet then you can change the configurations (disable kwallet) and apply
