KNetworkManager not playing sound notifications

I am trying to set up sound notifications for my wireless internet because my router is old and glitchy (plus it would be pretty cool to hear Homer Simpson get exited about me connecting to the internet). The only notification that does not work is the sound option. I can point the network manager to the .wav file but it will not play, even when I press the little play/test button. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem would be?

I have a HP Pavilion dv2000 with opensuse 11.2

Have you turned on sound notification for NetworkManager? Go to Start > Congigure Desktop > Notifications and select network management.
