hi kde knetworkmanager is not starting on startup.i am starting this manually every time on login to connect to network…how to make it start automatically?
Did you turn it off?
Try: Personal Settings -->Startup and Shutdown → Service Manager
Make sure that “Network Manager User Settings Service” is checked.
The above is for opensuse 11.4, KDE 4.6.0 . The wording might be different in other versions.
there is no network manager user settings service in servicemanager.what should i do next?
I would recommend installing “plasmoid-networkmanagent” packages using Yast. This will replace the old network manager.
Then you will see it show up in Personal Settings -->Startup and Shutdown.
Cheers!

In addition, I would recommend updating the plasmoid-networkmanagement using UpdatedApps repo provided below:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/UpdatedApps/openSUSE_11.4/
There is a better version.
Yes, you are correct. My mistake. As others have suggested, you should install the plasmoid networkmanager applet. That will replace knetworkmanager. And it is the plasmoid that shows up in service manager.
Good to hear. You should see an improvement with the newer plasmoid-networkmanagement applet.
Also, I would recommend updating to 4.6.3. There are a lot of bug fixes and improvements.
i can’t use plasmoid.because i am using mobile broadband to connect with network.if i connect mobile broadband using knetwork it will ask me contry,service provider to connect.my work will be simple and it has the correct firmware for my mobile device.plasmoid has the above?
If using mobile broadband you need to navigate to:
- Configure Desktop → Network Settings → Select the Mobile Broadband tab
- Click on the Add button and fill out the empty fields.
It should work every time. You may have to reboot your system to see the changes.
Please ensure that you add the UpdatedApps repository and update the plasmoid-networkmanagement applet.
What contains your file
~/.kde4/share/config/networkmanagementrc
It should have an entry
[General]
Autostart=true

Martin,
My settings show:
[General]
Autostart=true
[SystemTray]
NetworkingEnabled=true
WirelessEnabled=true
Also, vike4 didn’t have the plasmoid-networkmanagement applet installed. Once he installed it, his problems were resolved.
Martin what are you trying to say?how to go to that path?
open a terminal and write
kwrite ~/.kde4/share/config/networkmanagementrc
@Romanator: The question about networkmanagementrc was not for you. I just want to point at the original problem. Usually there is no need to install a different software just because a setting is lost. But probably the plasmoid is better (I do not use it, I use knetworkmanager).
My problem is resolved.after selecting defaults in service manager.thanks for helping me guys.

@Romanator:
Sometimes I tend to forget that there is a bit of a mixture when and where
the answers appear, I use nntp with knode and I see everything threaded.
Sometimes I forget that the default in the web interface seems to be to show
everything flat and even worse that due to the 30 min synchronisation
between web and nntp users it is sometimes weird to see what belongs to what
and when was it posted.
@vike4:
Glad to hear you have it working. Welcome.

I want to ask a question.when i saw the subforum network.this thread had been five stared who added that stars.
Thanks for that tip, I had the exact same problem as the OP and this solved it for me. It still irritates me though that the central control panel thing can’t control what starts and what doesn’t - some apps/widgets/whatevers require this kind of manual tweaking.

I am not sure if that is a feature or a bug in kde
