KMPLAYER or SMPLAYER

Hi,

I 've used SMPLAYER in Opensuse 11 - Gnome and I am happy with it. Now I 've installed Opensuse 11 in KDE

kaffeine often crashes konqueror after it was used as plug-in.

My question is KMPLAYER is better than SMPLAYER or both are same.

Depends on what you need. Both use the underlying MPlayer. I suggest you try both and decide which one you like better <shrug>

Hi sir,

I tried to install kmplayer, smplayer (Opensuse 11 - KDE) and I had mess out of it. Xine dependencies problem. I tried to resolve it but i can’t able to make it work. Finally i have to re-install opensuse 11 gnome and update the smplayer, mplayer, mplayer plugin etc… from packman and now it working.

My request to you, Mr. Oldcpu Kindly explain us more about “RPM” - install, remove and Upgrade etc… for example I have installed mplayer from packman by “Single click” and Yast has done the rest of thing for us. If there is no “single click” option and we have to download and install manually then the problem starts for us.

So Kindly help us in this regards.

Thanks & Regards

Suresh

Wherever possible, you are best to use the yast software management tool to search for and download required software rpm packages. This utility will take care of any dependencies or conflicts for you. You can install rpm packages from a shell (CLI), but you may then need to handle any complexities that arise by yourself manually. Some reading for you…
