On a fresh install of OpenSuse 12.3 on a Gateway zx6971 all in one with snd_hda_intel
kinfocenter says: 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (0x1C20)
This is the problem…and I’ve verified it on Opensuse, Linux Mint, and Fedora:
If I install cheese or kdenlive, then try to adjust the mic audio with kmix, I will get horrible static and feedback from both programs. I can still hear the sound in the background, but the majority of what I hear is static and feedback. I have to kill the pulseaudio server to stop it.
HOWEVER, if I adjust the sound with pavucontrol, I have no problems whatsoever.
So use: pavucontrol
I never had trouble with kmix yet though
I do, but it remains that there is come kind of a bug in kmix that is preventing me from using it
It could be
That would need to be addressed via bugs or the ML
This problem appears somewhat similar and possibly related to https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/multimedia/484630-kmix-mutes-microphone-opensuse-12-3-when-trying-change-input-level.html A bug report had been submitted, with another user confirming the bug, but so far no feedback from developers.
Thank you. I’d like to use KMIX and hopefully they figure out what’s going on and fix it.
