kmail threaded messages

This feels like a stupid question, however…

I cannot find the option to control threaded messages in kmail,

For one user I’d like to revert to a simple list (no threads)

For me, after eight messages, the rest are invisible and inaccessible, with no obvious method to change this state of affairs, other than deleting or renaming earlier messages.

Any ideas or help, please?

KDE4 kmail here. In the message list, right from the “Search” field there are a couple of buttons. One of them is “Select aggregation mode”, try some of the (terribly confusing) settings there.
