KMail Search Feature and this Nepomuk thingy

For the 3rd time in the past few years I have tried this Kontact/Kmail software, and the “S” (Search Feature) does not work without the “Nepomuk Semantic Search” activated, though I had it activated and tried all sorts of things seen on the Internet, and get a load of errors from trying them … I still get the dialog that reads "The Nepomuk semantic search service is not available. Searching is not possible without it. You can enable it in “System Settings”. I have “update conditionally” things like KMail, nepomuk, virtuoso, redland, soprano, and so on that I know of that might be related to this problem. The 2nd time, back in 2013, I had the same problem when trying this “KDE PIM” suite, but was able to get the problem solved … in looking back in my ~/bin directory, is a script, which in part is:

/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukstorage
/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukfilewatch
/usr/bin/nepomukservicestub nepomukfileindexer

I ASSUMED that is what made it work before back then, but now I get:

Unknown service name: nepomukstorage
Unknown service name: nepomukfilewatch
Unknown service name: nepomukfileindexer

Has something changed to make it work?
Maybe I should AGAIN give up on KDE’s PIM?

You should indicate your opensuse version, and maybe your KDE version.

The desktop search has changed for 13.2.

In any case, open “Configure Desktop” from the menu. There should be an item there for “Desktop Search” or “Semantic Desktop” or similar. Open that, and make sure that search is enabled.

Yes, I forgot to do that – it’s openSUSE KDE 13.1 and KDE 4.11.5

I haven’t upgraded to 13.2 yet, but have already done all that, and still have problems and error messages, e.g.
in the .local/share directory, if I execute:

find .local-mail.directory/ local-mail/ akonadi/ -type f | xargs -n1 -I{} nepomukindexer {}

I get error messages like (a sampling):

nepomukindexer(6066)/nepomuk (library): Could not find virtuoso to connect to. Aborting
nepomukindexer(6066)/nepomuk (library): Could not find virtuoso to connect to. Aborting
nepomukindexer(6066)/nepomuk (strigi service): SimpleIndexError: "No such object path '/datamanagement'"

virtuoso is installed, but I don’t understand the “No such object path ‘/datamanagement’” part.

I hope someone else can step in and help.

I did not start using PIM until recently (and with opensuse 13.2). And I might yet junk it and go back to doing things the way that I was previously doing them. Desktop search is now “baloo”. I have it turned off. But then I have not tried a search in “kmail”.
