I have had this prob for quite some time now:
kmail ( kde4 ) or kmail (kde3 ) when the app is minimised to the tray so
that it is running in the background checking mail at set intervals and
effects are enabled will hog both CPU`s.
This is using the systray setting from the appearance section of kmail`s
prefs either of the settings ( show always, show on new mail ) have the same
prob.
If i disable composite then all works fine, if I minimise while effects are
on and it starts hogging all I have to do is go to the desktop
config>Desktop Effects and change anything then change it back and then
press “apply” plasma resets and all is well until I maximise then minimise
again.
If effects are disabled all works fine with no hogging.
This is with:
Version 4.2.88 (KDE 4.2.88 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090527)) “release 135”
With the latest QT`s
But has been going on for a lonnng time, i cannot remember which version it
started in it has been so long, I have created a new user and started with a
default config and exactly the same so it is not in the ~/ dirs where the
prob is.
anyone seen this?
As far as I can see no other app shows this prob.
I also think ( not confirmed yet ) that this may be causing some zombies in
plasma that I sometimes get.
i have not filed this yet as i would have thought that it was wide spread
but having not seen anyone else report it maybe something here.
I do not use any of the pims just kmail as a stand-alone.
amy more info just ask.
cheers.
