That’s not there.
System Integration
Only - Always check to see if Thunderbird is the default mail client on startup
Sorry can’t really help you as I don’t use Thunderbird regularly. Maybe something to do with the version as per the previous reply above from Busy Penguin. Can’t you just leave Thunderbird running or your chosen e-mail provider - setup notifications for new mail to pop up & switch to your e-mail app if it looks like it of interest?
Apparently there is an extension for Thunderbird or a Flatpak called Birdtray that might be able to help you with this, but I haven’t tried it so can’t vouch for it.
Merci. I’ll try kmail again.
I use kmail and that with Gmail accounts, kOrganizer with … Google accounts. Without any issues and for years and years now. ( oldest email message in kMail is from 2002. Recently I added 2 Gmail accounts to a customer laptop to kMail without issues, using my own as a template to set it up.
One of my accounts keeps freezing and showing as offline.
And what kind of template is it? Could you tell me more?
Remove checkbox Downloads All mail for offline use - Everything is working.
Of course, that stops the syncing of the IMAP account to the akonadi database. And that is definitely not what you want.
I don’t need the old emails; I can view them via the web. I just need the new ones to work and for notifications to come through. I can always check the box to download everything for offline use later on, right?
I’ve noticed with running “akonadictl fsck” at the command line that sometimes it will identify items with broken/missing RIDs. This is typically when I’ve imported large amounts of email. The way I’ve figured out to fix this is to use Akonadi Console:
-
Use the DB Browser tab to identify the subject collection of the Item reported by “akonadictl fsck” using the PimItemTable.
-
Identify the Collection name using the CollectionTable in the Akonadi Console DB Browser.
-
Use the Akonadi Console Browser tab to find the named collection.
-
Right click on the collection and choose “Clear Akonadi Cache”.
-
Use the Akonadi Console Server menu the restart Akonadi.
-
Check the results by running “akonadictl fsck” at the command line again.
I’ve heard it said that normal users shouldn’t have to use Akonadi Console, but this one use case has come up a few times when setting up Akonadi based applications on a new machine. There is however all kinds of ways to break Akonadi using the console, so be careful.
One can do way more with the Akonadi console. What is way more important is, to have backups before you start using it. One can easily do that by
cp -a ~/.local/share/akonadi ~/.local/share/akonadi.old
Another thing one can do is rm -rf ~/.local/share/akonadi/file_lost+found && akonadictl restart
Thanks to everyone for the help. I reinstalled the system and added the accounts one by one—waiting for each to sync before adding the next. Everything is working now.
