kmail,imap2, one folder not synced

I copy a local folder in my imap account.
In my webmail account i see the folder is created and filled with all messages. Good.
I copy another local folder in my imap account.
In my webmail account i see the folder is created and not filled with its messages!

In the two cases the messages are old and tagged as read.

Where is problem?

Note: my webmail account is a roundcube account.

Give the first one some time. It needs uploading to the IMAP server, an on next sync adjust the akonadi database, and index it’s content.

I waited for several hours till next day. No sync.

Hypothesis:

  • roundcube gets a limit concerning folders created by user
  • bad implementation of roundcube
  • a bug in imap akonadi agent

I tried also to put the second folder in the first one. This fails. The folder is created and not filled.

Today i move mails with today date to the second folder in my imap account then they were all synced!

How to force sync from kmail to webmail of the old mails?

it’s not a roundcube but a zimbra account at my ISP.

I see that, as far as KMail is concerned, Zimbra supports POP3, as well as IMAP.
Maybe, you could try setting to access the Zimbra account from KMail with POP3 in place of IMAP …

  • The reason is, POP3 consumes fewer network resources and therefore, the synchronisation may, possibly, be more reliable …

I need to share the 2 folders between 2 devices then i use imap.

Thanks.

You can setup POP3 to “leave the e-Mail at the server” …

Today a miracle. The second folder is synced!

imap is a mysterious protocol. 10 days for synchronizing!

Which is why, for private use, I prefer POP3 …

  • IMAP is fine in a commercial environment with enough server power …
