kmail cyrus-sasl

I hope its okay to post about individual programs here. But I tried to send mail with hotmail using kmail and it comes up with

an error occured during authentication: SASL(0): successfull result:

I read that one possibility was that /etc/resolv.conf doesn’t have a domain name, so I added
domain linux-ynag #- my domain
to it.
That didn’t do it. I also read that downgrading cyrus-sasl would do the trick. I’m just not sure how to do that without breaking something, since the only downgrade is my 12.2 beta2 dvd,
and for some reason that isn’t being read correctly with software management. I don’t know what would happen if I downgraded to a 12.1 rpm.EDIT: Actually it says lots of stuff will conflict with it.

Same here cyrus fails of me (using RC1). There are updated versions in the factory repo (2.1.25-22.2) but these also fail for me. I keep a copy a copy of the various old rpm’s and the last version that I can find that works is 2.1.25-19.1 from April. The versions from opensuse 12.1 are 2.1.23-20.1.2 so I would suspect that these would work OK.

The rpm’s that you need are:

cyrus-sasl

cyrus-sasl-32bit

cyrus-sasl-crammd5

cyrus-sasl-digestmd5

cyrus-sasl-gssapi

If you want to send me a pm with a note of your email address I would be happy to email you a copy of the 2.1.25-19.1 versions. Or you can hold on until RC2 in August which will hopefully have corrected the problem.
