KMail configuration

I just installed my version of 11.2 and am slowly setting up the software I need to make my Windows box an expensive paperweight. I recently set up my KMail to receive mail on my POP3 acct. I only recently had reason to send an email to myself at work to remind me to do something. When I hit send this is what I got:

"Sending failed:
smtp://rhutchinson9:********@pop@cogeco.ca:25/send?headers=0&from=rhutchinson9%40cogeco.ca&to=darzac%40cogeco.ca&size=387
The message will stay in the ‘outbox’ folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the ‘outbox’ folder.
The following transport was used:
Ca Where the ****** is my password!! (So now you can send me email at my home address LOL)

And it was in the clear. hmmmm. Is this how KMail sends it’s authentication string? I have never really looked at SMTP or POP packets so maybe they all send them like this but I was a bit shocked when it came up like that. What if someone had been looking over my shoulder?

A quick look at the source of one of my sent emails shows nothing like that. It may be worth re-checking the configuration.

You say that yoy configured Kmail to use pop3 for receiving mail. But you do not tell that yyou configured the sendind site (SMTP).

Did you only forgot to tell you did it, or did’t you configure. When you didn’t it is no miracle that it doesn’t function.

The account configuraion has a receiving and a sending tab.

Danke, You are most wise! The “Send” Configuration had “Server Requires Authentication” checked and of course my server does not. email is sending fine.

I always try to detect where people jump to conclusions. This is not always appreciated (“Of course I did that, do you think I am dumb?”). But is is very human and once you skip something your mind is more or less blockeed there and you need somebody like me who asks stupid questions.

Oh Velden…there are not stupid questions ,maybe stupid answers sometime ,not always…
to find the way, the answer ;the question must be put first and the “stupid questions” help a lot be sure, because we exclude some options, we reduce the number of questions and the field of searching ,we increase the chances to have a adequate solution…
this forum is really great cause of people like you and others ({ugo}…)that put 'stupid questions"…

I need help with my K mail I set everything up correctly but it does not send nor recieve email to my kmail. I however did recieve my email to my windows base email through charter internet but not through K mail can Someone help me please so I can sleep
