Kiwi-LTSP Weird Keyboard issue

I’ve just followed ‘LTSP/Quick start - openSUSE’
(http://en.opensuse.org/LTSP/Quick_start) and got Kiwi-LTSP working. My
client boots and I can login, run programs all that good stuff.
Amazingly easy!
I’ve got one issue once I’ve logged in when I try and type into a
program like a Word processor hitting J outputs a 5 for example. some
keys are correct, but many are not.
This is not a problem at the initial login. After logging in the
problem begins, and even persists at the login window even after logout.

I guess I’m not the only one who is stumped. I don’t think it’s a
problem with the keyboard layout. I really just can’t even think of what
to check next to find out what is causing the problem.
