Kiwi: a file placed in the overlay tree appears in unpacked image but not in final .squashfs file

Hi,
I use a Bépo French Keyboard (Typematrix). It is quite different from other French keyboards.

When installing a new system from LiveDVD or USB stick, I am not offered this choice for keyboard layout and it’s quite difficult to enter required information such as username, password, etc.
I tried to make a custom iso with kiwi. I was thinking that placing the layout in one of the the /root/usr/share/kbd/keymaps/ subdirectories of the configuration directory (overlay) would have been enough as I cannot find any possibility in the config.xml file. The result is that :

  1. the file appears in the unpacked image — at the right place — after the first stage,
  2. but it is not present in the name.version.squashfs
    file in the result directory after create stage.

How comes the file disappears in the second stage (create)?
