kio_*

This is pretty much for 13.2 and later. kio_sysinfo was such a surprisingly useful little applet - the only application permanently pinned to all my desktops. Forget your cpu? Video card? Clock speed? Hard drives full (how much left)? Hard drive names - all right there. Other apps have information scattered all over the place, and are more useful for technical linux users than we desktop-only linux users. Apparently kio is ‘unsupported’ now. I guess this means whomever was building/maintaining it in the repos got tired of rebuilding it for new distros? Or is it deeper - as in code development? Did the kernel change enough so that it’s now broken? This would require a C programmer to fix?

For leap (for now) it still works - sort of - you have to right-click and select “Open with > Konqueror.”

Best,
Patti

Hi Patti

kinfocenter (standalone application) has replaced it. For KDE Plasma 5, the kinfocenter5 package provides it.

Do you recall this thread? Déjà vu
