kio_http takes all cpu speed

it starts with plasma un hangs up pc. what is this thing?

On my machine with opensuse 11.1 and kde 4.2 the “Yet Another Weather Plasmoid” plasmoid-yawp caused the 100 % load with kio_http.

me too. perhaps the plasmoid was or still is broken. i don’t have enough courage anymore to put it on my desktop.

Hi there, I am part of PlasmaFactory (the group that made yaWP) I am sorry you are experiencing problems with it, but have a look at bugs.kde.org. https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=ALL+kio+cpu. I also got the same problem when upgrading to 4.2; before it was fine. :frowning: A upgrade should fix it though, apparently it was fixed in rev 870284. A work around would be to use curl asynchronously until everyone has the fix.

Hi,

the error with 50% CPU usage (kio_http) came back with actual yawp version (0.2.3-1.1) :frowning: (Repository: /repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE4_Factory_Desktop/)

Hi,

I switch now to back to the “http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/42/openSUSE_11.1/” and “http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Community/openSUSE_11.1_KDE_42/” repositories which now also contain KDE 4.2.3.
With the yawp from this repository (0.2.3-1.1) the problem with 50% cpu usage by kio_http is gone :).
