Kicker Menu

I have a strange little thing going on. Using Open Suse 11.2 KDE. It updated to KDE 4.3. In kicker under Apps. It shows “Recently Installed” 8 times. How can I get rid of these? I tried Menu edit but they don’t show up in there.
Any clues?

Go to menu edit
Go Edit > restore to system menu

save

see if that does it

Thanks for the reply Puzzled Penguin. Did not work. I can’t seem to figure out why. If you have any more ideas sure would like to hear them. I like opensuse KDE, But use Mint most of the time.

open a terminal and copy and paste the following, hit enter, then logout immediately and back in.

mv .kde4 .kde4-old

You will loose settings (they will be in the .kde4-old folder)

That did the trick! All gone. As far as settings no biggie just reset. Thanks for all your help! Stay warm (not sure where you live) it’s -17 below here in WI.

Thanks again.

Happy to help

As far as I know, this happened to me for a while with the factory versions of KDE a while back. If I recall, the little glitch you’re talking about will come back as soon as you install a new program.

There was a bug submitted here with kde

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217577

But they just said to submit it to openSUSE as it was an openSUSE patch.

It doesn’t happen anymore with the newest factory versions (I’m using 4.3.85 (KDE 4.3.85 (KDE 4.4 Beta2)) “release 203”). So you’ll just have to wait for whatever fix or irregularity to be corrected.

Take Care,

Ian

Thanks Ian for the info. I’ll keep a watch out for it and post back if I have the problem again.
