I need to draw electrical schematics in my job from time to time. I’m currently using kicad, which works, but it’s kind of clunky.
I’ve also tried QCad, but its interface is very difficult to read at times (the X/Y coords at the bottom are too tiny on my monitor, and I’ve never found a way to make them larger).
Anyone else here use a F/OSS CAD or schematic layout program? What do you recommend?
There is gEDA, which is a good program for drawing electronic schematics. I don’t know if it is suitable for electrical ones, but perhaps you could give it a try. I’m an electronic engineer and I tried (in the past) to use FOSS for drawing my circuits but there was always something missing. I found that the most suitable solution is EAGLE which is not FOSS (but it has a version for Linux).
