kget -bit torrent

i cant get kget to download bit torrent all it says is stalled? please help

phanuet,

Welcome to these forums. We all hope you will enjoy here and find usefull information, either by searching or by asking.

But, as most of us have no crystal balls, it would be wise when you at least told which openSUSE level you are using, which Desktop (when applicable) and more that could help us to help you.

In this particular case it would be usefull if you told us what you wanted to download (or if it happens with all downloads) and how you started it. (I e.g. clicked yesterday on openSUSE-11.3-DVD-i586.iso.torrent and it worked flawless).

In general the statement: “Help, it does not work” is realy not enough to get people here (all volunteer users like you) to spend time trying to help.

I am using the newest release of suse I think 11.3 i downloaded the torrent with firefox and it asked if i wanted to open with kget and i said yes  i was downloading a 1945 movie and yes it happened on all torrents i have tried to get

Just a suggestion: your ISP blocks this kind of traffic?

Any chance you get home soon?

just got the well shut in might be a month or so I am new to linux but i am not without skills i have two more questions 1. i am try to run a command in terminal but it says i need root priveleges i thought when i logged in as root that i already had root priv. but obviously i need a command line authorization where should i go to find answer?

NEVER LOG IN AS ROOT. That is law #1.

This should answer most of your questions about using root: SDB:Login as root - openSUSE
When not, please come back.

**thank you very much

When I tried dl’ing a .torrent file using kget it just dl’ed the file onto my disk, then if I tried opening the .torrent file with kget it said protocol not supported

Should there be a torrent listed under plugins? I don’t have one, I do have libktorrent installed and ktorrent works fine

same issue? different?

running 11.3 and kde4.5rc2

Maybe others tune in here.
I used ktorrent always (in fact only when a new openSUSE should downloaded), but yesterday kget was started instead. It did it’s job nicely, thus I do not complain. But when kget does not function, use ktorrent.
In an rc release not everything works as advertised. That is where the rc is for: testing and reporting!
