Keyboard shorcuts for folders / files? [SUSE11, KDE]

Dear all:

Is there a way to (easily … ?) setup keyboard shortcuts for particular folders and/or files under KDE?

For example, I’d like to be able to press <ctrl> + <alt> + <j> to open my daily journal (an OOo writer document), or <ctrl> + <shift> + <f> to display a window of the folder /home/user/current projects.

Cheers,

homoludens

kde3? or 4?

in kde3 its control center - region/accessibility/keyboard shortcuts

I’m not in kde4 at the mo, maybe someone else is

You can add and configure input actions from ‘System Settings’ in KDE4. This can be done by selecting ‘Input Actions’ under the Advanced tab. You will have to select the group ‘Preset Activation’ on the left and then click on New Action. Now give the action a corresponding name and in the action type select ‘Keyboard Shortcut -> Comamnd/URL’ and enter the corresponding keyboard shortcut and the command name in the corresponding tabs. Hopefully that should do.

sorry, i forgot, i’m using kde3.5. am a bit behind things … :stuck_out_tongue:

caf4926: well, the region/accessibility/keyboard shortcuts menu does a lot about shortcuts, but not what i’m looking for, i.e. keyboard shortcuts for quick access to FOLDERS and FILES.

badshah400: hum, sounds promising. you don’t happen to know whether there is something similar under kde3?
i should brush up on kde4, sounds like many good functions have been added.

what about the section “Input Actions”
You should be able to add/create you own shortcut input

i’d never looked at that option so far. sounds actually very promising. thanks!

yeah, that’s actually what i was looking for, thanks a lot!
