Keyboard konfiguration doesn't save.

Hi all,

I’ve been away for some time (tried some other distros) but now I’m back to SuSe.

I’m running SuSe 11 with KDE 3.5. Updated all the packages and finished my initial configuration run (printers, gfx, tools, packages, etc.).
I ran into a problem while configuring my keyboard though. Since I cannot select a US alt-int layout at install I need to do this after all has been installed. While doing so all was fine until I tried to save the new settings.
Then I get this:
http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh236/kivech/KeyboardSettings.png

The message varies a bit upon each try, but the content is roughly the same. At times it gives me a path to a log file, at times it doesn’t. I cannot manage to find the faulty entry that it runs into when I manually scan the files that it seems to refer to.

Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this error? Now I cannot seem to save the new settings for my keyboard, which is not very comfortable to work with.

Thanks for any help,

Kivech

Try Control Centre > Regional > Keyboard layouts.

There is only one U S English layout; so it may not be the one you want. But, if it is, make it you default KDE layout and your problem will be solved.

Thanks for the tip John.

What I did in the end is go to the KDE configuration section and there I could change the keyboard layout without a problem in the one I needed.

Still remains that the Sax2 configuration utility for some reason doesn’t work.

Once I figure out how, I’ll submit a bug report about this one.

Cheers,

Kivech
