Keyboard and mouse deactivated while installing

This is my problem:
I insert the install disk (network install), pc boots from CD and at the bootsplash my keyboard and mouse are deactivated so I can’t even get to install it.
Would it work when I install it from DVD?

what type of keyboard and mouse do you have, what type of ports, and are there other os’s on the HD?

I have a Logitech cordless desktop ex110 and a microsoft intellimouse. And now i’m running windows XP and the ports, i have no idea how i can check it, i’m just a newbie…

Yes, the installation from DVD shall be easier. There is 98% chance that keyboard and mouse will work then.

Tell us whether the keyboard and mouse are connected to USB ports, to PS/2, or what.

That’s what i meant, it sound’s like it is USB, so yes, most likely it will be easier.

Very odd issue indeed.
Usually linux is good at mouse/keyboard detection

I had the same problem, seems to be linked to Acer desktops (I have an Aspire M5641).

In the first install screen, run the option “without local APIC support”, it worked for me.

Hope it helps

Try to do hardware reboot, and see if it gets recognized next time/after reboot.

Hi! I’ve got the same problem.
During installation of openSUSE 11.2 my PS/2 mouse doesn’t work! The same device worked just fine with previous versions of openSUSE. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

on dvd or network

same problem, i tried with several keybords and mouses (ps2/usb/serial).>:(
I have a new, clean system; delivered yesterday. No other installed OS.
