Kernel Updates and Video Cards

What I’ve found yourself in using propriety blobs is after updating the kernel and xorg updating is to pull into the text interfaces, if X will not start, cd’ing into the downloads, and then performing the install from the sh drivers. Just thought that might help if it needs to be put up then please sticky it.

This is indeed true for any hardware device that requires a driver be compiled against the active kernel that is not part of the kernel as posted by kernel.org. For the nVIDIA driver, have a look here:
