Kernel updated - fn-keys still don't work

Hi,

the problem with my Asus X56V persists. Even though I was told that with thenew kernel those fn-keys will work they don’t. Still I have no control about brightness and volume. The brightness keys work untill linux has been started. After that they seem to be dead. No entry in /var/log/messages when I hit them. Important for me are the keys to control brightness and nice would be to switch the touchpad off whilst typing.

Any ideas?

Try to configure your keyborad with keytouch. There was a lot of thread about similar problems.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick answer but it doesn’t help. The program doesn’t even offer me the keys that don’t work. If I try to use the editor the program crashes.

P.S.: I read about 1.000 threads and hints. Nothing works. :frowning:

This would be the easyest way to set up your Fn keys. Have you tried to start keytouch from terminal? Is it from the Packman repo.?

Hi,

This is exactly what I did and where I got it from. The keys are not known by the program and it remarks that it cannot grab all keys. :frowning:
