Kernel panic during LiveCD install

Well hello there,

I just started to feel for Linux and already hit a wall :
Unfortunatly I am the typical clueless Windows User so I really could need some help.

As I tried to install OpenSuse via LiveCD this morning I got following Error Message:

Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempt to kill init!
Pid: 1, comm: bash Not tainted 2.6.37.1-1.2-default #1
Call trace:
<c02060e3>]try_stack_unwind+0x173/0x190

<c0206178>]show_trace+0x18/0x20
<c05f9945>]dump_stack+0x6d/0x72
goes on for a while with the following middle-parts
panic
forget original parent
exit_notify
do_exit
do_group_exit
get_singal_to_deliver
do_signal
do_notify_resume
work_notifysig
panic occurred, switching back to text console

Checksum is ok, Memory test says ok, alternative Kernel-Options dont work aswell.

I am really confused because I already tried it on my Laptop @ home yesterday with great success
I recognized I am using the 32bit-Version of OpenSuse while running this on a 64bit Dualcore. Could that cause the issue?

Searching for related problems and their solution while leaving this open.
Thanks in advance for your help :]

Greetings
Xan

No, it shouldn’t.

You can try another version, there is not much you can do. Perhaps with
more details, not sure.

Version 11.4

My System Spec is
P5SD2-VM Mainboard
Intel E2160 Dual Core (1M Cache, 1.80 GHz, 800 MHz FSB)
Samsung HD502HJ Hard Drive

What specific details you are looking for?

You could try 11.3, 11.2… Or try the DVD instead of the live for 11.4

To report in Bugzilla, you would need the complete log of the failure.
Somebody might know what to try.
