Kernel 6.7.X - File transfers to USB are instant (not really - XFCE/Thunar)

Before I go on, I think XFCE might not be the best choice for a rolling release. Kernel 6.7.X is buggering everything up on all my systems - ridiculously high RAM, CPU is going bananas with some applications and others are not working as expected (bugs reported). I hope I’m wrong and it’s all my fault.

When I transfer files e.g., a 3GB file to my USB (tried ext, NTFS, and FAT USBs) with Thunar, the progress bar appears for 2 seconds and then disappears as if it’s complete but obviously when I unmount, it takes a minute or two. You see, I thought it was some voodoo magic that Torvalds pulled off and started renaming files before I knew the transfer was complete which, as you might of guessed, corrupted my file(s).

Is this happening to anyone else? Plasma/Dolphin or GNOME/Nautilus having this issue?

In vain, I reinstalled the OS on my HP Desktop and Lenovo Laptop for a fresh start but alas, I have the same debacle on both.

Nevermind - I’ll just do what I do in i3 and sync it for now.

You shouldn’t keep secrets about “what I’ll do”.

Anyway, nope, no issues here on the latest TW, everything KDE oriented.

Don’t use Thunar or XFCE, so not a direct comparison with my four TW KDE systems.

I learned many years ago “reinstalling OS” is a fruitless effort.

“Shouldn’t”? “Secrets”? Behave yourself.

I didn’t know sync was a secret program.

I’ll clarify: If anyone wants to know how to use sync then open your terminal and type man sync.

Glad you’re not having problems with Plasma.
