kernel 3.5 & AMD catalyst 12.6 legacy ARE still compatible

again the kernel was updated without any amd driver problems

after updating the kernel, the only noticeable effect wrt the driver was the
re-boot took 60 - 90 longer than usual to initialise
no fglrx re-install was necessary — all happened automatically

the driver, installed from depos
is highly recommended

the install is rock solid

many thx to all involved!!!

It works fine with KDE as it seems, however I am not sure about Gnome 3.4
I am using Gnome and for years ATI drivers were always broken for me. I am fine with free radeon drivers as long as I keep away from graphic-heavy applications.

I’ve never used Gnome so cannot comment,

KDE with both ATI and nVidia drivers is very dependent upon the system hardware,
mostly the experiences have been good but occasionally things just don’t work

that’s life
