After the updates this morning i`m running on kernel 3.1 and using Tumbleweed:
creatura@creation:~> uname -a
Linux creation 3.1.0-46-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Oct 24 20:49:37 UTC 2011 (1cba112) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
creatura@creation:~> cat /etc/SuSE-release
openSUSE 11.4 (x86_64)
VERSION = 11.4
CODENAME = Celadon
Can wait for those 17 days to pass so that Tumbleweed can jump to 12.1 as base
Reading /var/log/messages/ i found some interesting lines:
10/31/11 08:17:36 AM creation kernel 26.502019] splash_write_proc:

These lines repeat a lot in my log.
Another lines are like this:

So the natural question is: what do the lines above represent?
Just installed the latest kernel 3.1.0-46-desktop x86_64 and other updates. I saw quite a few splash_proc messages towards the end of /var/log/boot.msg, but no idea what they represent.
After these updates, desktop apps on KDE 4.6.5 seem to load faster, such as libreoffice.
That`s true, i wonder how the boot process will be when Tumbleweed will use 12.1 as base with systemd instead of sysvinit
