Kernel 2.6.36 Graphics News

So I was reading the latest openSUSE news #140 under the kernel information and I found something I felt anyone interested in the future of Graphics Support in the kernel should read. It was very interesting for me to read and so maybe the same for you.

Kernel Log: Coming in 2.6.36 (Part 1) - Graphics - The H Open Source: News and Features

Thank You,

I’m running 2.6.36rc3 and i can say that is stable enough. I have although after some time high cpu usage from Xorg (about 30%). I’m using latest Xorg and radeon drivers.

Too bad they didn’t talk about a fix for the EQ overflow freeze up bug with GeForece210 stuff, while they were mentioning the Nouveau KMS driver.

binaryfudge can you point me to a write up on this subject? I have not heard about this issue. Do you have a video card based on this chipset?

Thank You,

If I find any offical articles I’ll let you know.

To be fair, it looks like the EQ overflow error messages can print to logs for numerous faults. If you search that it’ll bring up all kinds of bug reports.

Anyhow. Heres a good bug report for what I’m talking about — https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=638137

You know that anyone that had this problem binaryfudge, I would try out this script file written by please_try_again, for a similar kernel related problem. Read about it here.

Keyboard & mouse freezes

I would also say that running the 2.6.35.4 kernel has been just great for me so far as no issues what so ever have occurred.

Thank You,
