keep HD RAID from sleeping 11.1 x64?

My RAID10 apparently takes a LONG time to spin up (so the KDE filemanager can access it), so I was looking for a setting that would prevent that HD’s from going to sleep. It might be due to drive indexing? They are not OpenSuSEe RAID drives, but are Raided at the hardware level (SAS to an Adaptec 5405 controller card). Maybe I could run a small script that “touches” a file on the drives once every 30 minutes? (I think it’s simple but I’m not command-line savvy…)

Thank You for the info!
Patty

Virtual Edit:

I am trying this:

jobinfo=

just a test to see if I can keep the RAID drive spun up

5 0 * * * touch /SCRATCH-RAID10/patti/keepalive

patti@localhost:~> crontab jobinfo

It didn’t do any good - I’m thinking something is sort of busted in 11.1 KDE - or maybe its an indexing daemon - there doesn’t seem to be a lot of CPU activity. There are a lot of directories and files on that drive.

Are you aware that 11.1 is old and long ago out of support?
