Kdenlive won't save settings - openSuse 11.0 - HELP please

I start with openSuse 11.0. With KDE 3.5/Compiz 0.7.4.

next:
kde4-kdenlive-debuginfo-0.7.1-0.pm.2
kde4-kdenlive-0.7.1-0.pm.2
kde4-kdenlive-debugsource-0.7.1-0.pm.2

above done from a 1-click install.

next:
python-mlt+±0.3.8-0.pm.1
mlt-0.3.8-0.pm.3
java-mlt+±0.3.8-0.pm.1
mlt-devel-0.3.8-0.pm.3
libmlt1-0.3.8-0.pm.3
perl-mlt+±0.3.8-0.pm.1
libmlt++1-0.3.8-0.pm.1
mlt+±devel-0.3.8-0.pm.1

Starting from a shell, giving it a kdenlive command, it takes me into program settings, first I get a Welcome page, click Next, I’m now at Video Standard page, choose DV and verify I’m set to DV NTSC, click Next and I’m at Additional Settings, I accept what’s there by default plus place check to Install extra video mimetypes, click Next, I’m at Checking System, with:
X FFmpeg & ffplay
X Recordmydesktop
> Dvgrab
> Inigo
(where my use of > is equivalent to a check mark)
I click Finish, it should be writing its settings to the ~/kdenlive folder, but it writes nothing there - but it appeared as though it completed its task…

In the shell window, here is what I have from it:

kdenlive(22333) MainWindow::parseProfiles: RESULTINGÂMLT PATH: “/usr/share/mlt/profiles/”
kdenlive(22333) initEffects::parseEffectFiles: // INIT EFFECT SEARCH
kdenlive(22333) Wizard::installExtraMimes: EXTS: ("
.mpeg", “.vob", ".m2t”, “.mp2", ".mpe”, “.mpg", ".mts”, “.mod", ".ts”)
kdenlive(22333) Wizard::installExtraMimes: INSTALLING NEW MIME TO: “/home/bigpat/.local/share/mime/packages/video-mpeg.xml”
kdenlive(22333) Wizard::installExtraMimes: EXTS: (".dv")
kdenlive(22333) Wizard::installExtraMimes: INSTALLING NEW MIME TO: “/home/bigpat/.local/share/mime/packages/video-dv.xml”
kdenlive(22333) Render::Render: ////////// USINGÂ
PROFILE: hdv_1080_50i
kdenlive: symbol lookup error: kdenlive: undefined symbol: ZN3Mlt8ConsumerC1ERNS_7ProfileEPcS3

And I start kdenlive from shell again, and it brings me back to the same Settings Welcome page…

I’ve got video to create/edit this weekend, and would really like to use kdenlive, but haven’t a clue how to correct for this problem…

Thanks,

-Pat
