I have kdenlive 23.08.5 installed and everything is up to date.
When I load a clip to edit it, it just loads the audio portion, no video. I’ve tried this with a few clips and get the same results. All the clips play as expected in VLC.
I tried reinstalling kdenlive but get the same result.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
Thanks in advance.
Has it ever worked?
A couple of quick troubleshooting steps:
-
Launch kdenlive from a windowed command line and see if there’s any error output.
-
Create a new user account… login to that new user … launch kdenlive… any improvement??
Thanks for responding.
Yes it has worked before, but I don’t know if it has worked with this update.
- I’m not sure what a “windowed command line” is but I launched it from Konsole and there where no lines that said Error. There where lots of things it didn’t find. There is an interesting line that says"=== GOT DROPPED MIME: “video/mp4"”. I’m trying to edit an mp4.
- I logged onto a different user account and had the same problem.
What is the version?
rpm -qa | grep kdenlive
Does the flatpak work ( it has all the codecs built in )?
Did you run the Config Wizard?
Start Kdenlive.
Select menu → Settings → Run Config Wizard
Does it show any issues?
The config Wizard says “Codecs have been updated, everything seems fine.” The hardware acceleration seems fine.
Here is the output:
kdenlive-23.08.5-bp156.1.6.x86_64
kdenlive-lang-23.08.5-bp156.1.6.noarch
I think I will try the flatpak tomorrow, it’s getting late here.
Thanks.
The flatpak version works.
Thanks for your help with this
