kdeinit4

Hello,
I have installed Suse11/KDE4. Updated and Ati Graphic Driver works
fine. After playing around with Designs and themes in KDE4. Compiz 3D
on. Next start I find the system in runlevel 5, it shows a problem with
kdeinit4? How I can go back in the x-windows? I don’t know much to work
on the terminal.

Probably the easiest way for you is this, but you will loose all your
desktop settings, not your user files, just the settings for your
desktop - though they will still be available - just in a renamed
folder.

From the CLI do this:

mv /home/username/.kde4 .kde4old

*(username) = replace with your user name

restart

@caf4926, thank you for your help. I try’d the above as root. It shows:
mv/home/username/.kde4: file not found. in my home directory there is
this file “.kde4 and .kde, there is no kde4old”.
Because I use a german Suse11 version, some translations are made by me
and are not the real shows of the english versions.

You do not need to be root
there is no .kde4old yet because the command above re-names your .kde4
folder to .kde4old

Press : Ctrl-Alt-Backspace

make sure you are user and do:

mv /home/username/.kde4 .kde4old

reboot
and you should login to what effectively is a new kde4, though all your
user file will be there.

replace *username with yours eg; naranala or whatever it is

the command: “mv /home/username/.kde4 .kde4old” change in my system only
the kde startscreen, just before the system go to runlevel 5.
