kde5 gecko linux freezing

>:( Hello i’m pretty kinda mad, because sometimes whilst im drawing in krita , my entire desktop freezes randomly ,when it happens not even the super key works, its like everything is suddenly locked up and only the mouse works when it happens and i have to force shutdown by power key , what do i do to get out of freezing ?

Video card/driver???

oh its Intel Pentium P6200 (2.13 GHz)
4 GB Memory that’s ddr3

80 GB intel SDD
Intel HD Graphics
my resolution 1366 x 768
my os is is gecko tumbleweed linux suse kde5 plasma 5.9.2

Graphic editing can be very memory intensive do you have enough swap defined? 4 gig seams to me a bit slim. Run top in a konsole and monitor usage. Running out of memory will lock things up

okay i reopened my krita drawing ,and it says its 29.6mb in krita, the monitor ksysguard for swap it says Swap 4.4 MiB/ 7.8GiB, and for my memory it says Memory: 1.2 GiB/3.5 GiB,and the monitor says krita is using 571mb with my drawing, is this very bad ?i chose kde because it is the only desktop where i can get krita thumbnails, could it be that my hardware is too exotic and not well supported yet for linux ?maybe if i give it more time new updates will come out to support it better right ?

At the point it freezes??? But you do have enough swap not to totally run out of memory.

i made my krita window smaller so i can fit the monitor and see my memory when it freezes and what i found out is that i didnt even come close to filling my swap space or real memory, the krita stays a little over 500mb in memory, when it did crash i press ctrl alt backspace and it logs me out instantly to a green loading screen with a suse lizard icon with 3 loading dots under it, but then nothing happens. The freezing seemed to occur randomly at anytime when i changed brushes , or zoomed/rotated the canvas or focused in a corner on the canvas, or just randomly whilst coloring and paning canvas, sometimes the freezing didnt happen for a long while , other times it happens within a few minutes. I tried krita in kde manjaro and linux mint and i didnt have this problem , so i totally wasn;t convinced that its low memory cause i never came close to filling it up :c .But what i did to fix my problem is i installed gnome desktop in opensuse and use dolphin to see my krita files , havnt had any freezing since or anything else bizarre, so for me its best to use krita under gnome with dolphin filemanager

there are a heap of bugs for intel graphics driver, especially for kde. you have configured intel graphics 20-intel.conf file? (i assume yours is not using the modesetting driver by default)

I would not go so far as to say that. I have 42.2 running flawlessly on a few machines now with intel graphics, no problems at all with the default install settings, using Xfce.

I do not know the state of the situation with Tumbleweed, though, or with KDE’s desktop, but rumour is that the problems have been solved … I am waiting to see, for now.
