kde4 starts up with too many kate windows

whenever i log in to kde4… (updated to 4.1) lots of kate windows open… and there always increasing… last time i logged in they were some 20-30… its becoming too much of a nuisance now…

i guess i’ll have to edit the kde startup config file… where do i get it?

Once before i face this problem, and i didn’t get any relevant answer to solve this. I Google it that time.
And find a near solving solution, mean a half way sol for it.
1- Open configure Desktop from kicker.
2- Select session there.
3- And there change the stored session to NONE(some thing like that there).
I am not sure is it stored session and something else, because i am away from my LINUX laptop now.
But hope this will help.

See if there is a text file in the directory .kde4/share/config/session in your home whose name begins with kate. If so, delete it. Now restart your kde4 session and see if you still have kate starting up.

I’ve had this problem with Kate and Kopete as well. It seems like sometimes they get stuck inside a session and never leave.

Are you running the latest KDE 4.1 packages? I think this bug is fixed…

I am running the latest packages and I can confirm that Kopete no longer gets stuck in the session. Haven’t tried Kate because I uninstalled it.

You must kill the apps that get stuck as well as deleting them from .kde4/share/config/session

Why? I don’t know.

Is it a Bug or a Feature ?

Cheers

Sorry to bring this up again. But I have this problem in the recent Tumbleweed version with KDE5 and Plasma. Does anyone have a solution?
