kde4.6 rc2 indexing issue

I just switched to 4.6 rc2
and get this:

The Nepomuk service is not available or fully operational and attempts to rectify this have failed. Therefore indexing of all data stored in the Akonadi PIM service has been disabled, which will severely limit the capabilities of any application using this data.

The following problems were detected:

  • Calling the Nepomuk storage service failed: ‘The name org.kde.NepomukStorage was not provided by any .service files’.

Did anyone else see this when they upgraded (I was on 4.5.5)
I guess I’ll figure it out, but just on the chance someone has a quick answer.

Deleted the hidden config files
restarted kde
all good

Solved!

I see this regularly since 4.6. I recall a dependency problem during the 4.6 upgrade concerning “akonadi” :

The non-installation of akonadi was the path of least resistance at that time. It was necessary to add the Index of /factory/repo/oss repository to resolve an annoying problem with a “shared-mime-info” dependency. That addition may have interfered with the akonadi install (actually, non-install).

Choice would be the first radio button

Making sure that the Factory OSS repo was added fixes several issues (somehow, the MS5 repo itself got deranged, according to zypper/Yast; adding the Factory OSS repo fixed it). The akonadi error did not occur (nor did the dependency issues with updating KDE) - KDE 4.6 RC2 is now firmly in place. Fortunately, the hardware acceleration (gained with the X.org upgrade from using the X Factory repo) did not go away. The only disappearance was the X-Fi drivers (however, the HDMI audio support stayed) - however, I think that is likely temporary.

All in all, unless there are regression errors, MS6 (and the resultant 11.4) is looking mighty tasty.
