I’ve recently installed 11.3 on my work laptop. I wanted to check out some wallpapers so went to “desktop activities” → “get more wallpapers…” and installed a few. However, I can’t see to find my newly installed wallpapers. It says they’re installed, but they don’t show up under wallpapers. Has anyone seen this before?

Your in luck as I know the answer to your question. Once you download some NEW wallpapers, they will appear here ccin1492:
/home/your_user_name_here/.kde4/share/wallpapers
In order to see them with a file manager, you would need to enable “View hidden Files” then in your home area, dive down through .kde4, then share and finally, wallpapers. This wallpapers folder is not there until you download some new ones, but it could be created manually if you wanted to copy some others there for your use first (before ever downloading any online).

Ok, the files were there but they are corrupted, that’s why the wallpaper browser wouldn’t display them. I guess there’s no strict standard for uploading wallpapers. Anyhow, I found some that installed correctly. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

So some of the downloaded wallpapers are bogus and just scripts or links to a web site. When I find anything that is not a direct wallpaper download, I delete it. They are most likely not corrupt, they are just not wallpapers either. I really do not know why this is allowed and I don’t know who maintains the wallpaper download stuff but it is part of KDE and not openSUSE.
