KDE4.3.4 Is in the repo's

Hi everyone,

Just ran updates on the kde43 repo’s and we have kde4.3.4 !
Looking good.

caf4926, no moss grows under your rolling stone !!

I note 4.3.4 was only just announced as being released today:
KDE - KDE Software Compilation 4.3.4 Release Announcement

I note they state:

KDE SC 4.3.4 is a recommended upgrade for everyone running KDE 4.3.3 or earlier versions. As the release only contains bugfixes and translation updates, it will be a safe and pleasant update for everyone

Hopefully we get someone to point to a useful how to.

Since I have the repo already added, and I’m on 11.2 I just click “Swicth to…” and it automatically updates everything for me. On earlier versions, just right click, and select all in the list, upgrade is newer version available.

One was posted recently along these lines:
Howto: Upgrade KDE4.3.1 to KDE4.3.3 in openSUSE 11.2 - openSUSE Forums

It’s more or less a no brainer!

KDE SC 4.3.4’s codename “Cold” refers to the feature freeze, KDE’s development tree is currently in. This Thursday will see the first beta of KDE SC 4.4, bringing significant improvements to the KDE development platform, the Plasma desktop and the individual applications shipped with KDE SC 4.4.
The current release is one of those monthly releases the KDE team ships to provide the users with bugfixes to the stable series. KDE SC 4.3.4 will most likely be the last release of the 4.3 series as KDE has now entered the stabilization period for 4.4, which is to be released in early February 2010. All hands are needed on deck to make KDE SC 4.4 a stable successor to the 4.3 series. Head over to the official announcement or the (probably incomplete) changelog for further information.

Just checked YaST, yup kde4.3.4 is there.
Will update tomorrow, net is slow ATM here.

Huh, that’s fast! But…I see a little “problem” - 4.3.3 works grate for me.

I doubt it will brake your system. It’s just fixing bugs, not a major update;)

With previous distro I used, I had some not exactly perfect update experiences(which even included downloading and installing same package multiple times for weeks), but obviously I didn’t know SuSE  4.3.4 right now, and everything goes really smooth, just k3b is different version than k3b codecs lib I have(I use it only once and find it amazingly easy and pleasant for ripping my CD), guess my next step is packman.

Upgraded, no issues here (other than my normal mental ones).

Great, I’m gonna try it now.

KDE just keeps getting better and better, I only noticed a couple of bugs in 4.3.3.

Barry.

I updated and now note that Thunderbird 3 hot linking to firefox now works. Makes me think the original problem was a KDE and not a Thunderbird problem?

Funny thing is, I’ve never had it Not working, but I’ve seen plenty of threads where is isn’t.

Hmmm … how did you update to 11.2? I wonder if that is a factor? Also 32-bit or 64-bit ?

I note I installed with a “clean” /home, although I did copy over the .thunderbird directory from a backup to my clean /home.

Clean install on both 32 and 64 bit. I likewise bring over .thunderbird

Oh, hang on I lie. My Laptop 32 bit, I kept /home but that was a new /home for RC1. I did zypper dup to RC2 then fresh install (keep /home) to Final.

_64 Box as I said fresh /home, I had previously had F11 on there, I didn’t want any mix up, Fedora uses different directories and I needed to make it ext4.

Updated via zypper dup.

Painless.
