Hi fellow SuSE lovers!
I’m a long term SuSE and KDE user (since version 5.2 of SuSE in 1998! With KDE Beta 3 and kernel 2.0), an experienced professional Linux user, and systems designer…and this one is new to me…
Since a couple of weeks ago, after a reasonably large update, application windows have started to randomly flick to another screen on the same desktop, or even to another desktop entirely. At first I thought it was to do with when the screen saver cut in, but I’ve now seen it happen after a long period of no mouse or keyboard input. I have 3 monitors, the middle one being the primary, running a KDE desktop Cube with 4 desktops, and if I leave the machine alone, eventually all application windows in the primary (center) monitor flick away to one of the other two monitors, and stay there. No windows ever flick to the primary, which ends up empty. On at least one occasion, an app window (Firefox) flicked away to one of the other KDE desktops (from 1 to 4) as well as to a different monitor. The place to which an application moves is not repeatable, either which monitor or desktop, or position on that desktop.
Apps involved seems to be anything, but include Firefox, Konsole, Dolphin and VirtualBox (both the master control center and Guest windows). VirtualBox is about the worst affected, as it seems to be triggered by guest events, such as a screen saver starting. Firefox is a close second.
Has anyone seen anything like this, or am I in a minority of one?
The machine…
