KDE (Wayland) Panel freezing on Tumbleweed

Hi all,

I have a work issued Dell laptop – a Latitude 7480 (Intel integrated graphics) – that I run Tumbleweed on as my daily driver. As a whole, Tumbleweed runs extremely well on this laptop. Stuff just works – even my high definition touch screen. Impressive!

I’ve actually been running Plasma on Wayland on this laptop for some time – mainly because my high def screen looks horrid in X11. Overall my Wayland experience has been pretty good (with a few exceptions that are very well known). Lately, however, the main panel freezes and won’t respond to input. Apps that are already open continue to function as usual.

When this happens, I can kill and relaunch plasmashell, and that’ll work … some of the time. Other times I have to log out and back in, or simply force a reload (ctrl+alt+backspace). The OS overall never freezes, however.

I keep up with the latest Tumbleweed snapshots and am pretty conservative when it comes to repositories. I have Packman and Mozilla repos enabled and that’s it. And no, the problem doesn’t occur when I login into a Plasma X11 session. Plasma shell is version 5.19.0. Anyone else having similar issues with 5.19?

Thanks all
