KDE version in Tumbleweed

Does anyone know the version of KDE that is within Tumbleweed?

I cannot see any KDE packages in the Tumbleweed repo, as I am on 4.5.5 using another repo. The tumbleweed repo is really only being tested on 11.3, so I guess it’s at KDE 4.4.4 . I only use the repo to pick up a stable kernel that is newer than standard, and that has been updated a few times. You will have to look in the repo itself.

I can’t see any KDE packages in that repo. Probably not a full repo as it’s just to test the process of running a rolling release with an adequate subset of packages.

I think that Tumbleweed is more focused on system files as kde updates are available from:-

Index of /repositories/KDE:

Not according to Tumbleweed - openSUSE. To become a “rolling updates version of openSUSE”, Tumbleweed will need packagers to submit their “newest stable” releases to its repo. I see no reason there to exclude KDE.

I guess the newest stable Release of KDE will be soon included.

Be aware that:

But just my guess…

Be very … very careful and double-check all repos. I downloaded last week and could not boot into the desktop.

Please make sure that you don’t point to Tumbleweed only. You must point to 11.4 first.

I’ll try again later this week.

Remember to have fun!

The short answer to your question is: Right now, there is no KDE version in Tumbleweed.

Based on available project info, Tumbleweed (as a newest stable rolling release) will commence from a base installation of the released 11.4 distribution, including KDE at whatever version is released in 11.4 GM. Anything done pre-release is “suck it and see”.

Best to check the Factory mailinglist or archives for Tumbleweed info status.

Or if you want the facts, just look in the repo at the version levels and dates.

Overall. I really believe that it’s a great idea that will continue on from one version to another.

I certainly hope Tumbleweed will continue, and be popular with packagers to keep the repo well populated with updates.

Have you combined the actual Tumbleweed repo with 11.4 ? Not with 11.3 ???

Err.umm.yeah. Yes - yes I did. Should have been with 11.4. Did it with 11.3.

You lost me, why would you want to downgrade 11.4?

I thoght more you did right but wrote exidentally 11.4 instead of 11.3 - see the cited words in the Tumbleweed wiki article.

Since I am using 11.3, I followed the Tumbleweed wiki.
Then Greg stated the following week that you have to upgrade 11.3 to 11.4 first.
