KDE themes and widgits and whatnots - Scroll bar width in Firefox and LibreOffice

I’m running Leap 15.0. I have oxygen5, looks like I got it from the Main OSS repo…

Yeah I miss the old KDE attitude of ‘configure everything’. That’s getting off topic though.

Thanks! Installing oxygen5 and dependencies did the trick!

I’m perfectly fine with configuring the colour, font and icons while leaving everything else to the designers. Unfortunately, those designers have been messing with the scrollbars for years. Installing Oxygen reminded me of that: it has a scrollbar that blends into its background (instead of blue on white like breeze). Sigh.

To change the scrollbar width on gtk3 applications:

create “~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css” with the following content
scrollbar, scrollbar button, scrollbar slider {
  min-width: 15px;
  min-height: 15px;
}
play with the pixel values (15px) to get the desired width.

If you want top/bottom scroll arrows then amend the code to
scrollbar, scrollbar button, scrollbar slider {
  -GtkScrollbar-has-backward-stepper: 1;
  -GtkScrollbar-has-forward-stepper: 1;
  -GtkScrollbar-has-secondary-backward-stepper: 1;
  min-width: 15px;
  min-height: 15px;
}

That was brilliant, Mr. Tannington! These narrow scrollbars have been a not-so-minor annoyance since ever, as using the scroll wheel for large movements is just a way to get early RMI.
Now the universe is as it should be.

One more step forward in the lost usablility of KDE.

Until the next new KDE version done by people thinking they know better how it should look and feel.
