KDE Remote Desktop Client

Hello,

I am having trouble connecting to the desktop of another computer. I have another computer set up (which is running Fedora 21). And I like to know how can I connect to that computer, is it even possible? Or do I have to have both computers running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed? I was planning on being able to control that computer from another location (so the two laptops are seperated from each other, and connect using wifi). I have recently looked at the KRDC (KDE Remote Desktop Client), and I am having trouble connecting to the other computer.

Cheers,

I would also like to have the possibility of being able to file exchange. So I can run a database on the Fedora 21 computer (I can install OpenSUSE on it no problem), and access files from this computer.

It depends on what you really need to do.
In most cases I simply use “ssh -X” to launch a GUI application on the remote machine. scp can copy stuff between the two boxes, or use fish://user€remotebox in Dolphin.

If you really need a complete desktop, try VNC.

Hello,

Well. What I want to do is have a computer at Site A and me being at Site B. I want to be able to have full control of the computer at Site A (file transfers, desktop control, etc.). But I have sort of solved this problem (using TeamViewer), but I would like to be able to connect to a computer (that uses Tumbleweed, like mine) without the need of additional software, another words: I would use the basic applications that are installed during installation to have control over the computer at Site A. As a minimum requirement I would need file transfers. I would prefer this is to be very stable (and very secure as well).

Arpadius98,

I suggest you try both, ssh and VNC, and see what works better for you.

buckesfield,

Alright I will try both. Thanks. I would also add: Nice profile picture!
