I’ve been looking for the Kprinter application in /usr/bin, but couldn’t find it. Does anyone know which KDE 4 application is taking care of printing, and/or how I would have to change the setup in OOo spadmin?
Not quite sure what features of the KDE interface you are thinking about but the Go-OO version of OO has something very similar to the KDE interface anyway, unlike the Sun version.
OpenOffice was connecting to KDE printing via a program called kprinter. Unfortunately, in KDE4.x, this program is not included. I have asked about it in the forum and so far, I haven’t got any concrete answers.
Yes, I know, that was my original question. I haven’t been able yet to find out which printing routine is being used by KDE 4 either. Currently, I’ve set OOo to use KPrinter, even though it’s a KDE 3 app.
Nothing equivalent to kprinter is in the plan for KDE4.x.
Someone told me that there is a plan in KDE4.3 but I couldn’t verify it because no details are available. There is a mention about something related to printing but no details.
It is very surprising that such a useful and critical utility was just left out in a major release.
