I’m on OpenSUSE TW with KDE Plasma and I decided to try i3. I have a problem that if I turn on the pc and log in into i3 then wifi does not work and apps like nextcloud or Vorta (a backup software that requires a password to launch, on KDE it starts automatically because the password is saved in the system, i.e. kwallet) ask me to put the password. In other words i3 does not have access to kwallet (I think that’s the problem).
But, if I log out from i3 and then login in Plasma (or if I directly login in Plasma) and then login back into i3, then everything works perfectly.
plasma-nm by default stores connection secrets in the user specific kwallet. The simplest solution is to store them system-wide instead so that they are always available.
Educated guess is that kwallet is not terminated when you log out.
To add, don’t worry about the not encrypted thing. The file created is not user readable, only root has access. A good thing about it is that the connection is already there before the desktop even starts.
the “connection” between apps sometimes in i3 does not work. With that I mean for example being able to click a link displayed on a flatpak application and having it automatically opened on my browser. Sometimes that does not work (i.e. when I didn’t logon on plasma before loggin into i3)
I see… But at least some hints on how to solve?
On top of that, the thing about password in kdewallet is not solved because apps like Vorta keeps notifying me something like “the passphrase was stored on a password manager which is no longer available”.
