Hello guys, i have openSUSE 13.2 with gnome. I want to install KDE Plasma 5 on my laptop. I added repositories but when i try to install it (i type sudo zypper install plasma5-desktop)
it doesn’t install it. output is:
Plasma5 is included in 13.2 anyway, there’s no need to add any repos.
You need to install “plasma5-session” though, to be able to use it. This should pull in all other necessary packages.
Or there’s also a pattern available which you can install with YaST in "View->Patterns or with “zypper in -t pattern plasma5_basis”.
To prevent incompatible packages, you should either stick to the standard repos (i.e. not add any additional repo for Plasma5), or add both KDE:Qt5 and KDE:Frameworks5 and make a full switch to both repos as described here: SDB:Vendor change update - openSUSE Wiki
If there are repos that i shouldn’t use please tell me because i am not an advanced user. Also when i type |sudo zypper in plasma5-session" it returns the same output as before. Never had this issue.

Well, as I wrote already, it should definitely give more output.
At least something like this:
wolfi@amiga:~> sudo zypper in plasma5-sessionLoading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
'plasma5-session' is already installed.
No update candidate for 'plasma5-session-5.2.1-63.1.x86_64'. The highest available version is already installed.
Resolving package dependencies...
Nothing to do.
I really think you are affected by that bug, i.e. zypper crashes.
So you only can wait for the zypper update to be released in the next few days, or you can install the update now already from the update-test repo (but I wouldn’t recommend that for general use).
Or maybe just try again from time to time, the crash doesn’t seem to happen in all circumstances.
You did install what? plasma5-session and all its dependencies?
Which openSUSE version? Which repos?
And what do you mean exactly with “I can’t use kde anymore”?
Installing Plasma5 removes KDE4’s Plasma Workspace, so of course you cannot use “KDE4” any more if you installed Plasma5.
For using Plasma5, you have to choose “Plasma 5” at the login screen, and/or set it as default in /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager.
