KDE notifications screen position

Today I was playing around with my KDE desktop. After I had finished playing I put it back as I had it originally . . . but now KDE notifications appear in the top left hand corner instead of in the bottom right hand corner.

I can’t seem to find a setting to move this around.

If I click on the notifications icon in the tray it moves it to the bottom right hand corner but the next new notification is back in the top left.
Is there a setting for this somewhere?

KDE 4.9.5

edit: when I say I was playing I simply mean I changed from default desktop view to folder view and then back again.

Try creating a new activity to match the one you want
Unlock the widgets when you do it. Then lock again when you are done.
Does that help

created a new activity with widgets unlocked but it is still placing notifications in the top left hand corner.
If I remember correctly, in older versions of KDE you could drag this notification bar around - but this doesn’t seem possible in KDE 4.9.5

will this help ? http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=100373

thanks - but I’ve already looked at that.

it’s in one of the plasma rc files, probably plasma-desktop-appletsrc either ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc or ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc)

probably this sectiion [Containments][3][Applets][7][Configuration][Applets][41][Configuration]
AutoHidePopup=true
Share=false
ShowJobs=true
ShowNotifications=true
customPosition=251,-10
customPositionAffinityHoriz=r
customPositionAffinityVert=b

I don’t have any entry that resembles this in my plasmarc file

All I needed was the removal and reintroduction of the tray…

this had no effect.

I see a screenshot similar to your here http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?t=107601

unfortunately there isn’t really anything listed there that has been too much help.

The only solution so far has been to create a new user - and for the new user the notification progress appears in the top right as it did previously for my usual user account.

There must be a configurable file somewhere that would let me specify where to put it. I don’t believe the file is plasma-desktop-appletsrc as I have copied this over from my newly create user and it had no effect.

You can delete or rename the .kde4 folder. There will be created a new one with the default settings.

Set the notification icon to be always visible, then all notifications
will be always in the lower right corner.
I thought this bug would be fixed by now, but i guess not.

ahhhh . . .so there is a known bug?
Any idea on the location of the bug report?

No.
But i remember there was a discussion about this some time ago on this
forum i believe but i can’t find it though.
Anyway it doesn’t bother me because i have the notification icon always
visible.

took me ages to find.

Probably this bug

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307202

which should be fixed in KDE 4.10
